When I joined clarkmcdowall, the Evolution Fresh rebrand was already in progress. However, without a strong production presence, color was a total wildcard. The team was viewing color on screen, and this was a project of 30+ SKUs where color is hyper-critical (the subtleties of an Orange vs. Tangerine flavor had the potential to get completely lost on shelf and frustrate consumers.)
I immediately determined proper color space with the printer, and started proofing things on substrate, getting actual juice on-hand from the client so we could be looking at things in a real-life situation. We also traveled to Ohio to proof on press, making sure things were tracking properly.
Back of pack involved a few hits of opaque white with a rotoscreen, so type had to be adjusted accordingly and hand-trapped.
The result? Beautiful, vibrant colors with flavors that stood apart on-shelf and a 20% increase in sales.
